The following pups are not under the direct care of Copper’s Dream Rescue. We’re providing these postings as a courtesy to help these dogs find new homes. Please contact the person listed with the picture if you’re interested in adopting one of them.

Lady is a 1-2  year old, 50 lb pup from the high-kill Moreno Valley shelter.  She was listed as a boxer mix by the shelter, but we think she also looks like a pit mix. She was pulled from the shelter at the very last minute (literally moments before her scheduled euthanasia) by a woman Melissa who met her, fell in love, and could not let her die there.  She is currently in a temporary home with a fellow do-gooder, Nikki, in San Jose until Melissa can find a longer-term foster situation and/or adopter.

  • Gets along okay with the resident dog and seems to do fine with dogs, though prefers people
  • Great with the teenage children in her temporary home and really just likes to be around all people
  • Takes food very gently
  • Bonds very quickly with her “people”
  • Sleeps through the night
  • Loves to tag along with her people; great in the car and has been well behaved at the store, coffee shop, and downtown
  • Tolerant while getting groomed; very easy to maneuver
  • Has a bit of separation anxiety when left alone but it is getting better after a few days
  • Loves to go in her crate on her own
  • Chases cats so would be best in a home without cats

If you are interested in meeting Lady, please contact Melissa (Lady’s rescuer) at mbsdesigns@yahoo.com or Nikki (Lady’s foster mom) at mayre67@yahoo.com

Norah is a beautiful 2-year old pit mix up for adoption at the Sonoma Humane Society.

  • Loves to chase the ball (still figuring out how to bring it back)
  • Shy at first, but warms up after meeting you
  • Enjoys being a lap dog and will seek you out for attention
  • Best as an only dog in the home
  • Pulls a little on leash
  • Doesn’t show resource guarding with people
  • Mostly calm, but will do the occasional “zoomie” around the play yard

Norah is an affectionate girl who loves to cuddle. While a little shy at first with strangers, she warms up quickly and soon becomes the life of the party. Her foster mom reports that she is a calm and obedient, but also loves to sprint around the yard. She has had some crate training and knows “sit”. She would do best in an experienced home with kids 16 and older. An only dog home would be best with adopters who can adequately manage her when out around other dogs. A consultation with a trainer and a class sign up will provide you with many resources for working with Norah as she makes the transition into your home. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 42 Age: 2yrs 3mths 3wks Animal has been Spayed

Moab aka Mo is a 1.5-year old, 58lb American Pit Bull Terrier mix. He’s a lovable sweet boy, found as a puppy abandoned in a box, sick with parvo. He was nursed back to health and ended up in a place with a breed ban…when a good samaritan saved him from being surrendered to a shelter. Now she’s off to Army basic training and he needs to find a home.

  • House trained, crate trained
  • Loves other dogs, but would probably be best as an only dog in the house because he can get jealous (but not aggressive)
  • Has done well with the kids he’s met
  •  Young, happy, bouncy boy
  • People who meet him fall in love

Remington is an English lab/husky mix about 8-9 months old and weighs 67 pounds.  He should be in the 85 pound range once filled out.

  • He’s a sweet boy that is looking for a super loving  home with another friendly dog or someone home that has lots of love and time for this cute loving boy
  • He will need some more training on leash and not to jump up when excited he learns very fast eager to please and treat motivated
  • He seems to be friendly with other friendly dogs we have seen no aggression in him at all since with us
  • He’s looking to learn lots with super loving folks that have time love and patience
  • He’s house trained to dog door, knows to sit when asked and ready to learn much more
  • We are only looking for someone that will be home during the day in a quiet neighborhood
  • We prefer a good sized yard and active enough to take him running on the beach as well as taking him to Obedience training
  • We prefer large dog or breed experienced with a stable home, prefer home owners
