Ethan Katz is only nine-years-old and lives in Stevensville, Md, but this awesome youngster has already made a difference in the lives of ten dogs he hasn’t even met. The lucky dogs are alive today and were saved from being euthanized in high kill shelters because young Ethan raised more than $3,000 for City Dogs Rescue to come to their aid.
According to the organization’s Facebook page, Ethan’s own dog, Brooklyn, is a rescue, and of course his parents are animal lovers who have fostered and adopted in the past. Mix all of that with some great parenting and a kid with a huge heart, the youngster’s ninth birthday meant more to him than Legos and video games.
With the help of his father, Ethan designed his own t-shirts and sold them for $20. a piece. On the site where he listed his t-shirts for sale Ethan wrote:
“My name is Ethan Katz and I am eight years old. I love dogs. I have two dogs that are very sweet. My birthday is on May 29th. This year for my birthday I want to raise money for my favorite rescue organization – City Dogs Rescue. We rescued my dog Brooklyn from City Dogs in November. I made this shirt to sell for City Dogs.”
What more of a reason would anyone need to buy a t-shirt, but if there are any doubts, the organization’s blog shares five great reasons:
- The more t-shirts that are sold, the more dogs that get another chance
- Buy a t-shirt and make an adorable kid with a big heart happy
- The t-shirt was designed by Ethan
- Ethan and his family are superstars after visiting Good Morning America
- This is what cool kids and their dogs are wearing.
In case you missed out on the first t-shirt campaign, a second one has been started. Click here for details and please leave a comment at the end of this article to thank this awesome kid.
