~ JUNE ~
adopted, now named ~ KOA ~
June 27, 2014
June 29, 2014
June is very comfortable in her skin. She enjoyed swimming in the pond waters at Kalapaki Beach and loved hanging out with a large dog giving him kisses throughout the day. She was not phased by loud noises or moving carts passing our way. She was a big hit where ever we went, letting all pet her who came over to say hi, even after a long day curled up sleeping, listening to live music while at Kukui ‘ula’s Farmer’s Market event day. June Bug is very curious and enjoys going for treasure hunts in bushes and tall grasses… funny girl. Her hunting nose leads her way. June is very easy on leash… and with my hand issues I was able to walk June without problem . She did not like a chihuahua that passed by but by the time it passed a third time and with proper guidance, June mellowed out just fine. She has the softest bark, enjoyed her treats and would love to nap snuggled up next to you. Our time with June was a perfect day, perfect little girl. My husband said June is the perfect “turn key” (ready to go) kind of dog. She will make a great addition to any family or person and would bond easily.

~ PEETA ~
June 23, 2014
Peeta is a sweet, beautiful 8 month old pup. He enjoyed and sought out all people and dogs that came over to say hi! He enjoyed wading and swimming in the pond water at Kalapaki Beach, although, the waves at the beach were a bit scary.
Peeta will blossom with someone who can help lead him to explore and celebrate new things and give him lots of caresses and loving. Regular exercise and running will all around do this working breed good. He will truly bond with the lucky person or family who is conscious of his needs. His rewards to you will be bountiful. Peeta was great in the car, which gave him confidence viewing and hearing all the sounds and movements from the surrounding environment during his car rides. Going on long drives with Peeta will help him blossom! What a sweet, gentle boy with the most beautiful brindle coat with vibrant colors. Peeta has great potential, he just needs to be given a chance. He was easy for us to bond with and our hearts went pitter patter big time !!!

Meet Ale’e who is still looking for his forever home at KHS! Thank you to these visitors for giving him a great day out of the shelter & capturing some cute pics!
My husband and I had the pleasure of taking sweet Alee on a “field trip” to the beach yesterday. Alee was SO well behaved, cuddly, and just warmed our hearts. We wish we could adopt him, but have no yard for him to play in. We were so inspired by this program that we are going to volunteer when we get back home to LA. We hope Alee gets adopted soon. He’s the perfect dog and anyone would be so lucky to have this sweetie to call their own!
Our Field Trip With “HEIDI”
German Shorthair Pointer
Female 5 yrs old
I’m one of the happiest and most lively dogs you’ll ever meet. I have an enormous heart and I’m a hound to the core, so my nose is always sniffing out what’s next. When I came here I was so hungry and thin I could barely lift my head, but a couple of meals later I started to gain my energy back and now I’m always up to something – I’m a true busy bee, always exploring or seeing what you’re up to and looking to see if I can join in. I’d make such a loving, loyal addition to any family!
Heidi’s field trip at Kalapaki beach….

vacationers from Las Vegas…
Heidi is a total joy. Sweet and independent but lots of lovin may change her independent ways… She enjoys caresses and lots of cuddles, kisses and love. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. What a gentle soul and sweet lady. Very focused on birds but she is only following what is true to her breed. Happy to receive treats with her most gentle mouth. Gets along with dogs, especially seeking out the small breed and was good with all humans who came over to say hi! Any gentle human ready to give lots of tender loving would be the perfect match and lucky to have such a lovely, sweet companion like Heidi.

Last week, a very nice couple took Cora & Cherry Lane on their very first field trip! Both dogs have been with us for almost 5 months so this was a much needed day out. Cora is a 3.5 year old who was surrendered by her owner at the end of September because he had too many animals. Cherry Lane is a 2.5 year old who was found as a stray in September and never claimed. The swim in the ocean helped relax Kawai. Before that, his tail showed how distressed he was. It drooped with the saddest limp ever.
